What happens during a Flowers Team staging consultation?
A Flowers Team staging consultation is where the plan for your home's transformation begins, and it is one of the most valuable steps in the entire selling process. Every consultation is led by Tara Llewellyn, our in-house Certified Staging Professional and Milton's number one stager since 2017.
Here is exactly what to expect:
The consultation typically takes about two hours and begins with Tara walking through your home with you, room by room. She approaches the property the way a buyer would, observing first impressions and reacting honestly to what she sees. Her initial reaction mirrors what buyers will likely experience, which is the most valuable perspective a seller can get.
Tara is direct and honest throughout. If the paint in the hallway is worn and needs updating, she says so and explains why it matters. If a piece of furniture is the wrong scale for a room, she walks you through how buyers will perceive it and what to do instead. If there is a repair or improvement that will generate a strong return, she identifies it clearly. If there is something sellers are planning to spend money on that will not help them, she will tell them that too. Flowers Team does not want sellers spending money where there is no return. A common question sellers ask is: what if I disagree with something Tara recommends? The honest answer is that you are always in control. Tara will explain her reasoning clearly, and in most cases sellers understand why a suggestion is being made once they hear it from a buyer's perspective. But if something truly does not work for your situation, she will adapt. There are usually other ways to achieve the same result. What matters most is that you are both working toward the same goal: the strongest possible presentation for your home. Real conversations, honest trade-offs, and a shared commitment to the outcome are what the consultation is built on.
At the end of the consultation, you leave with:
• A detailed, written preparation checklist with everything that should be done before stage day
• Clear guidance on which improvements are worth the investment and which ones to skip
• Advice on paint colors, lighting choices, and any other elements affecting presentation
• Tara's staging vision for your home, including what she plans to bring in from our warehouse
• A clear picture of what stage day will look like and what to expect next
One important note from Tara: do not choose paint colors before the consultation. There are many shades of white, gray, and beige, and choosing the wrong one can throw off the entire staged look. Let Tara weigh in first.
