Is all staging created equal? How do I know if a staging company is actually good?
Not all staging is created equal, and this is something Flowers Team Real Estate wants every Milton seller to understand before they hire someone. The word "staging" covers an enormous range of quality, from a stager who brings in a generic set of throw pillows and calls it done, to a comprehensive, vision-led transformation that changes how buyers feel the moment they walk through the door. The difference in outcomes is significant.
Here is how to evaluate whether a staging company is actually good:
Ask to see their actual work. A skilled staging professional should have a portfolio of real properties they have staged. Look for variety, quality, and whether the staging genuinely elevates each space or simply adds a few items. Does each room have a clear sense of purpose, appropriate scale, and cohesion? Or does it feel like the same furniture dropped into every house?
Ask about their credentials. Tara Llewellyn, who leads staging at Flowers Team Real Estate, is a Certified Professional Home Staging and Home Redesign specialist through QC Design School. She has held a mentoring and tutoring role at the school and has been voted Milton's number one stager through the Milton Reader's Choice Awards and Community Votes Milton every single year since 2017. That is over ten consecutive years of public recognition, and it is not a paid credential or a committee decision. That is the Milton community voting for the best.
Ask about their inventory. Budget staging companies often rely on the same limited pieces for every property, or they rent from a third-party company that is subject to availability. They never know exactly what pieces will be on hand, and in active markets, availability can be quite scarce. Tara's staging operation includes over $500,000 in curated inventory, more than 88 area rugs, an average of 20 to 25 lamps per staged home, and the capacity to fully stage over a dozen properties simultaneously. That depth of owned, curated inventory is what produces a staged look that feels fresh and specific to each home.
Ask who is responsible for the process. At Flowers Team, staging is fully integrated into our marketing and listing strategy. Tara works directly with our agents and our photography team. There is no handoff to an outside company. Everything is coordinated internally, which means nothing falls through the cracks.
The easiest way to see the difference is to compare before and after photos. Our staging gallery at flowersteam.ca/home-staging-milton makes that easy. Contact Flowers Team Real Estate to learn more about our staging program.
