It is an honour. When BUZZ BUZZ Media released its Top 50 Most Influential Leaders in Canadian Real Estate this month, my name was on it as Team Leader of the Flowers Team, and as the only realtor from Milton. For most people in this town, Amy Flowers, realtor, is how we first met. That title is still accurate. It is no longer the whole story, and that is what this recognition is really about.
This post covers 3 things: what the BUZZ Top 50 actually measures, why a verified ranking matters when you are choosing who to trust with the largest asset you will ever own, and the switch I made about a decade ago that turned leading a team into the real work.
What Is the BUZZ Top 50 Most Influential Leaders in Canadian Real Estate?
The BUZZ Top 50 Most Influential Leaders in Canadian Real Estate is an annual list published by BUZZ BUZZ Media Inc., a Canadian real estate media company founded in 2010, recognizing 50 team leaders and REALTORS® across Canada for verified production, leadership, client service and community involvement. The 2025/2026 edition measured production over the last 6 months of 2025 and the first 6 months of 2026, one full 12-month period.
BUZZ did not build the list on social media claims. In its own methodology, production is one component, and the minimum bar for consideration was close to 100 homes sold and $100 million in sales volume in 12 months, with room for professionals in smaller centres who hold complete market dominance. Beyond the numbers, BUZZ weighed networking and referral exchange, community involvement, and a willingness to collaborate with other agents so the client's transaction goes smoothly.
For scale: according to
BUZZ's published methodology, CREA represents about 150,000 REALTORS® nationally, and TRREB, the largest real estate board in Canada, has roughly 70,000 members. Fifty names out of 150,000 is the context for what this list means.
One note of transparency, because it matters to how we talk about credentials. BUZZ states that its honourees have participated in BUZZ initiatives, and that is true of me: I spoke on a panel at the BUZZ Conference in 2025. The production side of the selection is verified by BUZZ separately, and that verification is what gives the list its weight.
Why Amy Flowers Was Named: The Only Milton Realtor on the List
Four Halton Region entries made the 2025/2026 Top 50: two from Oakville, one from Burlington, and the Flowers Team from Milton. Milton is a town, not a big-city market, and the list reaches it through one entry. That is the "complete market dominance" criterion in practice, and it rests on a record that has been built in public for 25 years.
We explain what that national standing means for a Milton seller in
what the Royal LePage Chairman's Club means. The result side of that record is specific. In 2025, Flowers Team listings sold at an average of 100.02% of asking price, against a Milton average of 98.67%, based on independent 2025 data. On the 2025 Milton average sale price of $1,040,000, that gap is roughly $14,000 more in a seller's pocket.
This is also not the first national list.
Real Estate Professional magazine's Top Teams report in 2017 named the team among the top real estate teams in Canada. Nine years later, the business that earned that recognition has grown into a company that still leads Milton, and the person leading it has changed too.
From Real Estate Agent to Team Leader: The Switch That Changed Everything
"It is an honour, and it is also a reminder of a decision that took me a long time to say out loud. About a decade ago I stopped introducing myself as a real estate agent and started introducing myself as a team leader. That was a true change in my identity. I had been an agent for so long. But it was obvious, to the people around me before it was obvious to me, that I was more of a team leader than an agent. My passion is leading our industry, running our team, and having a real impact on people's lives that way."
Amy Flowers, Broker, CEO and Team Leader, the Flowers Team, October 2026
That switch did not take me away from clients. It changed how we protect them. An agent who sells houses is the product, and the ceiling is one person: their hours, their energy, whatever they happen to be good at and not good at. A team leader builds the company so the company is the product. Our clients get a certified stager with a 3,500 square foot warehouse, an in-house marketing department, a client care concierge, and agents trained inside one system.
The turning point was trust. Once I could train people to do specific parts of this job better than I could, stepping back from my own listings became the most protective thing I could do for our clients, because every part of their move is now handled by a specialist. I have written about that distinction before, in
why the best realtor in Milton never cared about houses, and about
how Milton's first real estate team was built when teams did not exist in this town. The hiring side of it is in
how the Flowers Team became an all-women team by accident.
A Top 50 list names one person. What it recognizes is a team of experts and 25 years of Milton families who trusted us with their move. The honour is mine to accept, and it belongs to all of them.
Why Verified Rankings Matter When You Choose a Realtor in Milton
BUZZ made a point in its announcement that we have been making for years: a ranking without context can paint a completely different picture. Social media is full of "#1" claims that cannot be checked. Before you let any ranking influence who sells your home, ask these questions.
5 Questions to Ask Before You Trust Any Realtor Ranking
- What period does it cover?
#1 for a day, a week, a month, a quarter or a year are 5 different claims.
- What market is it measured against?
A single brokerage, a real estate board, a region, or the actual town you live in.
- What is being counted?
Individual production, team production, downline production, number of transactions, or sales volume.
- Who verified the number?
An independent audit, a published board report, or the agent's own post.
- Who published it, and what do they gain?
Editorial recognition and paid placement are not the same thing.
Those 5 questions are BUZZ's own, almost word for word, and they are the same questions we answer on our awards page. When the Flowers Team says #1 in Milton since 2009, that claim is annual, it is the town of Milton, it is team production, and it comes from independent audit data. The BUZZ Top 50 adds a national, third-party layer on top of that record. BUZZ also pointed to REIC Verified, a new third-party credentials verification service from the Real Estate Institute of Canada, as the direction the industry is heading. We welcome it.
What This Recognition Means for Flowers Team Clients
Nothing about how we work changes. The recognition reflects what already exists: a Milton team that plans for the worst case first, stages every listing in-house, markets with a full-time department, and keeps a concierge on your file from the first call to closing day. It arrived in the same month the Flowers Team marks 25 years in Milton real estate, and we are treating both the same way, as a reason to say thank you to the families who put us here.
In November 2026, BUZZ Digital Magazine is publishing a 2-page feature on Amy Flowers and the Flowers Team.
